My 1997 F150 had a rear-end gear swap from 3.55 to 4.10; now, of course, the speedo is miscalibrated. However, I had a local speedshop owner tell me that there is no replacement speedo gear for my engine/rear-end combination. Furthermore, since my truck is a '97, the speedo can't be calibrated with a tuner.
How could I calibrated the speedometer if it can't be done with a tuner or speedo gear?
I know the gear ratio changed it...I've passed by those sheriff radar things on the side of the road and it has been consistently between 8 and 10 mph off. The aftermarket wheels/tires I put on the truck were very close in overall diameter, so the speedo would've only been 1 or 2 mph off from those. 10, however, is a different story.
