pyro tap size

i have a autometer pyro gauge, it has a 1/8'' NPT, wouldn't a
1/8'' pipe tap be the proper size tap to use for the 1/8'' npt
on probe?

Yes - NPT stands for national pipe thread so you want to use a pipe thread tap. They cut a tapered thread instead of straight (like a regular bolt) type thread.
