yea baby! got oil pressure

put the high vol. pump in today (4th time dropping the pan)also put the shaft in with the crown towards the dist. guy that was helping me put it in with the crown towards the pump. fired it up and had 40lbs at startup, 15 lbs hot and 12 lbs at idle in drive. but 2 things first. am going to get a better oil gauge, have a cheap no name gauge right now and i also put tranny fluid in the oil to clean it out and my oil is real thin right now.

i normally put 10w-40 in but would like to go a little thicker. would 20w-50 hurt the motor, i run it in my jeep and it does good enough. hopefully when i change the oil and filter and new gauge ill be good to go. thanks to everyone who helped me out in previous posts. thanks in advance

I used 20-50 in my 91 that had 325K on the original motor. The motor ran great when I pulled it out. I am putting a roller motor in it to get some spunk back.

I would use 10W40 or 10W30 for now until the next oil change to make sure you are not experiencing oil pressure fluctuation.

Did not have a numbered guage but the guage I had showed a slight increase. Close to a new stock motor

I run 15-40 in my truck, due to lower oil pressure, it something youll have to search for, some parts stores dont have it because its degsined for deisel engines and equiptment, but its a fair oil to run and hasnt hurt anything in the past that i have run it in.
