one problem after the other.....
) and noticed an odd smell. upon inspection i noticed that a line was very slowly leaking oil onto the headers which would burn it off creating a small amount of smoke and a burning oil smell.im not sure but i am almost certain it is either the sender or return oil line to/from the oil cooler? (a small cooling unit in front of part of the radiator) i think that this is what it is. my question is why is it leaking there?
if anyone has any ideas, im dirty right now and am willing to go look at stuff (ive got the "git 'er done" feeling) im tryin to fix a few things on the bronc before she collapses on me. get the small stuff out of the way so i can move on to bigger better improvements.
couple more q's:
1. i have an exhaust leak that i think is coming from where the headers connect to the heads, but the bolts wont budge (i was told to tighten them). i tightened the ones where the collector pipe meets up with the rest of the exhaust but that noise is still there. its more of a high pitch noise, which is almost a "pop, pop, pop, pop" at idle, and quiets a bit when revved, and also goes away after running for 20 min. or so.
2. the plug on the rear axle is a recessed square plug. i cant find any tools in the garage that will fit in there to loosen it. ive tried socket wrenches w/o a socket on it, a fat flat-head screwdriver.... to no avail.
3. the rear yolk assembly, i need to take it apart to replace the pinion seal. NAPA told me its not that difficult of a procedure, but im curios, before i start taking stuff apart, is it really that simple? im pretty sure i can take it apart, but my biggest concern is putting it back together, is there anything i should be aware of? or does it just go right back together. i dont wanna put it back together and find out some teeth or whatnot arent lined up correctly.
