Ok, How can I find a bellhousing to mate a 5.0L from a '91 Grand Marquise to a NP435 tranny out of a '79 F250... Did Ford ever produce such a bellhousing and if not then how should I go about finding one or getting it made?
I thought that the rear of Ford's bellhousings were almost all the same, but I'm not sure of
that. As far as the engine-to-bellhousing bolt pattern, the small blocks (289/302/351W) and
the 300 I6 are the same, so anything with one of those and an NP435 should work. Probably some
other 3 or 4 speed trannies behind one of those would work as well, but maybe someone else can
confirm or refute that part.
go to the advanced adapters web site, they have a huge list of adapter for bolting just about any motor to any tranny and any t-case together. you should be able to find what you need there, the only problem with them is if you do need an adapter they are expensive.
289, 300, 302, 351w had the same bellhousing, if the tranny you have is from one of those engines it will bolt up, if not find a NP435 bellhousing from a local yard off of one of those engines.
Just type in Ford Bellhousing on ebaymotors.com and you'll find at least 4-5 of them everyday. As has been posted already, any small block bell will work. You will need to decide which size bell to use though, a 157 tooth or a 164 tooth. You will need the matching flywheel too either a 157T or a 164T 50 oz/in balance flywheel.
