I just got a choke spring and housing for my autolight carb on my '74 360.. i was wondering what the prcidure was for setting the choke up. It looks like my mark on the cap, goes way beyond and before the marks on the carb before I see a difference.. .Thanks guys!
At say, 70° the arm of the coil spring should be *around* the mark on the cap. If it's pointed in the opposite direction, make sure you have the right mark. (You could through it in the freezer and where it sets up at freezing or something.)
Once you get it on, it should hold the choke plate lightly near-closed at, again, say 70°. If the plate is wide open, you probably need to adjust the fast idle cam adjusting screw.
Sounds good, I think the fast idle screw is messing with me. The choke housing is close to the mark, just about a 3" swing on either sides. I'll tweak with the fast idle if I can ever get off work!! Thanks ash..
