Help...No Spark

I posted a while back about putting a c6 in my truck that used to be AOD and it seems to have worked the only thing now is the engine. When I originally got the truck it had no tranny in it and the guy had taken the radiator out and the ignition module that mounts on the distributor itself. We found out that the ignition module was the same as the one on another 351w distributor we had laying around so we tried taking that one off of there and putting that on. The bolts holding it on were stubborn so we had to drill them out. We slid that in the other distributor and had no fire. We have no spark at the moment. My only thought is that the module has to be grounded through the screws that hold it on which we drilled out. Also when we were taking that module off the 351w module, the metal backing of it kinda seperated from the rest of the module but I didnt think it hurt it. Its possible we could have ruined it but im looking for other ideas right now. Also when he took the module off to begin with he most likely took the distributor off to take the module off. When he took that off and put the distributor back in could he have put it back in wrong, messing up the timing. Also, in the on key position all the lights and everything seem to be functioning and the fuel pump kicks on...but it doesnt turn over. Does this ignition module control the actual starting of the truck or is the solenoid bad? Any help would be appreciated. I understand this is kind of vague but its all i really have to go on right now. Thanks.
