I got the latest Good Sam camping e-letter and the users voted the cummins diesel the #1 pull truck. Also JD powers rated it the #1 deisel. Results below.
The lower the number the better ...
I can honestly say that I see just as many cummins powerd dodges around here as I do Powerstorked trucks, and I see the cummins doing more work on a regular basis. I see way too many soccer moms taking their kids to practice in powerstroke powered trucks.
Not to mention smell them. The reason you see more Powerstrokes is because they sell at least 2 of them for every Cummins.
Yes they sell twice as much, But it all evens out because the first couple thousand 6.0's are still in the shop. It would be VERy interesting to see the number of Vehicles sold for 03 in Diesel format for the Big three that are ACTUALLY out there working with satisfied Owners behind the wheel..
Actually I guess thats kinda what the JD numbers did.
Another Question, If we all woke up tomorrow and found that Ford Had been replaced by Dodge as the Number one selling truck Manufacturer, would that then mean Dodge makes the Best truck?
The Wife and I Really want a Diesel Excursion, and I tell you Id jump on one in a heartbeat if it came with a Cummins..However, I'll stick with the V-10 probably until 05, shouldnt put much more mileage on it, by then gas will probably be 4.00 a a gallon and It will be sitting in the Driveway alot.
I cannot say with 100% authority that those JD Powers numbers are Accurate, I will say that upon doing Research through many Forums, they SEEM accurate.
bought my truck 03/31/03, 01/03 build. 36,000 plus miles. still have pi, 2nd blackstone report, 0% fuel in oil. In shop once for turbo hose. travel from ky to mississippi or florida 5 to 6 times a year for the last 3 years. And have seen more and more fords pulling from year one to present over dodge or duramax.
I don't rely on any publication that depends on consumer surveys for information. In the past they have given import cars like the Prizm higher ratings than their GM counterpart. The results are often not accurate and will only reflect which consumers respond to the survey, not reality. If they want to know what the consumer's choice is for towing RV's they need to take a count of those rigs in campgrounds. No doubt that Ford will be on top.
