Rear Glass Mod?

ok, ive been thinking, since the rear window motor and regulator are shot, is it possible to convert the top of my 78 to more of a canopy style?

you know, attach the rear glass to the roof via hinges and add some weatherstripping and maybe a couple hydrolic lifters?

it doesnt seem that it would be that difficult, or maybe if they make something like this?

a friend suggested sealing the rear glass into the weatherstripping so it was permanently in the top, but that doesn seem feesible.

i geuss what im trying to describe is the rear glass operation of a (as mentioned above) a canopy or a mid 90's blazer.

i've never seen any "converts" that look worth anything. I would think it is not that hard to rebuild, i've replaced the motor gear in my '96 - it's tight, but not that hard to do..... Good luck with what you decide.

why go through all that trouble of modding it, just fix or replace the window motor, it not that expencive, and you will save yourself from future headaches.

I have seen someone who took a Bronco top and cut off the roof and made it a Fiberglass canopy style. He did just that, incorporated the tailgate glass as his rear window, like a pickup truck, then he used the flat portion of the roof as part of the "toneau" style to cover the back... The window was stationary though.. looked pretty good..

I've seen that particular brand of mod to the window. I gotta say it looked like crap, but that could have just been the craftsmanship.
