Rear Main seal

I have a 351W HO and i slid the rear main over the back of the crank far enough to allowit to sit in the groove in the back of the block i did it by hand
is this the right way to do it?

I would say it should have needed some tapping to get it to seat all the way in. Did you not look at how it was before you removed it? It should be flush with the back of the motor.

yes it is flushg with the back of the block
and it was pretty stubburn to put on
is that all there is to it?

Yep and I know it may be to late but its a good idea to put oil on the seal lip before installing it.

i havent put the oil pan on yet

should i use a points or electronic distributer?
