Well, I've been off the boards a bit enjoying the nice weather and a few ball games. I'm back with the same old problem - front axle hub/bearing failure.
I replaced the left side at 50K, the right at 55K. Now at 73K after a trip to Mexico I'm afraid I've grenaded the left hub assy again. It's in the shop, a true 4X shop - not the dealer, and I'm having them go completely through the front axle to see what else is damaged or a root cause of the problem.
A while back, DCSpecial (?) spoke about a group of guys he knew were designing a kit to replace the sealed bearing with a true bearing/race setup as an alternative to the $$$ Dynatrac conversion. Any word on this? If I have no other choice I'll probably end up going Dynatrac, but the kids won't be getting much for Christmas and I'll be eating chili-mac until the loan is paid off.
Any help or advice is, as always, truly appreciated.
Correction - I am well versed in the Dynatrac setup, the shop I took it to is an authorized distributor. Looking for info on optional systems to Dynatrac to replace the sealed hub bearing assy - sorry if this wasn't clear before.
Yes, I do know someone who is working on heavy duty fixed spindle hubs for the SD.........I'll be sure to let you know when I hear that they are available.
And I responded to both of your emails as well.....
