Steering conversion

Hey all,
I have a '75 F-150 4x4 with power assist and wanted to convert to power steering. So I bought a box from a '79 F-150 and mounted it to where it needed to be, hooked it up and it steers backwards? Turns one way and goes the other? The only thing I could come up with is if there was some kind of a gear drive machanism possibly made by advanced adapters or somewhere that would hook on to the steering and reverse the rotation. I've searched around a bit and can't find anything. I can see how it would be fairly easy to fab two gears together and with a benifit of reducing the wheel turns it takes at the same time. Anybody tried this or know what I would need to make this work? I just don't see anyway possible for this box to work unless my tie rod system stuck out 2 feet forward to go the other way?

Thanks,

Well, I have searched and searched and have only came up with a fellow named Nod that knows of a company in Arizona that will convert the gears to gear the other way for like $269. Add shipping to and fro to NC and we will be talking about $350. Or I could buy a 1977 1/2 - 1979 complete truck and swap entire front ends which is out of the question because 1979 F-150's go for $1,500+ around here. And I have seen the question 100 times, F-250's are a different animal than F-150's when it comes to steering. I have both and can verify with pictures if needed. The tech article on power steering conversion is no help for earlier than 1977 1/2 F-150 4x4's.
I basically just would like to know if there has been any other conclusions since Nod's that would be cheaper. I would imagine a small gear box (2 gears - one half of original shaft going in welded to gear and other half with another gear mated) with bearing seals filled with oil to change the direction could be fabbed up for less than $200 and it would even strengthen the steering shaft by mounting the fabbed box on the frame with 2 shorter shafts. But who knows who would be willing to make such a thing? Would be pretty simple for someone with the knowledge and tools though. Who knows, I may even take a stab and I would definately market my product.
Any help would be appreciated, and yes, I will email Nod for the Arizona phone number, just to hang on to.

Thanks again,

This is funny, I am having a one on one conversation with myself but actually it is a great help! It is always better to think out loud. No really, I have just posted these posts within just a couple of hours from each other so I respect having no follow ups. :-)
First off, I have been a member for quite a while but I have just sat back and learned alot from the masters without speaking. Therefore, I have not had enough posts on the FTE site to have the priveledge to email another member. So if "Nod" reads my thread, If you would please send me the phone number for the steering box rebuild. It would be greatly appreciated.
And with searching on the net for hours, I have found one company that looks promising in building a reverse rotational gear box. They are located in Evansville, Indiana (I love U.S.A made products) named Moore Machine and Gear. Has anybody heard of them?

Thanks ever so much again,
And I would get alot more done at work if I wasn't reading on FTE all the time...

Thanks highboy1975! I will definately look into that. That's a different approach all together! Here we go, starting all over and searching for hours again. :-)

Thanks again!
