Hey all,
Well I'm new to this site, bu not a new ford owner. I bought my 1989 F150 from my dad about a year and a half ago, and have enjoyed 'her' more then any other vehicle. But last we she left me broke down a block away from home. I towed her to my house and started doctoring her back to health. My problem is that my fuel pump won't work. I have replaced and tested the relay switches under the hood. I have replaced and tested three differant fuel pumps located in the rear tank. My truck used to run on two tanks and was fuel injected. The second tank was removed by an owner before us. My dad decided that he didn't like fuel injected so that was removed years ago as well. I've tested all the wires running to the tank and I have power but I can't get the fuel pump to kick on. It's almost as if my truck has a master reset switch. Anyone have any ideas?
If you have power to the pumps and they don't come on, you probably need a new pump. The EFI has an inertia switch that shuts down the pumps if you're in an accident, I think it is on the firewall by your brake pedal, but if you are getting power to the tanks I can't imagine that being the problem. If it is this switch it may need to be reset.
Hey, Yeah I tried the reset switch by the emerg brake, with no luck. I also replaced all the relays, all the relay connectors, tested all the wires, I have power going to the pump, the pump works. It almost seems like there isn't enough power getting back there though. When I tested the power closer to the rear tank the test light was quite dim. Any suggestions?? Thanks
