Hi there...I'm new to Deisel and need some info.
I'm doing a oil change and need to know the oil amount in litres.
I run a 1994 F250 XLT 4x4 Turbo Deisel with a V-8 7.3 engine.
Can anyone help me out...the book that Ford gives with the truck keeps telling me to refer to the Maintenance Supplement???
I don't have this...
I think it's a little more than 13, something like 13.23. Do you buy motor oil in liters where you are? I assumed, mistakenly I guess, that the motor oil manufacturers packaged oil in jugs that were 1 quart, or 1 gallon, then showed the metric equivalent on the side of the jug.
A gallon of milk is 3.78 liters, so using that ratio, I figure 14 qts should be 13.23 liters.
I hope this helps.
There is no SAE markings on our OilJugs.
Just Metric...
I dropped the old oil and got about 11 litres thats with the oil filter out as well.
Putting the new filter then topping it up with fresh oil I used about 11 litres.
I will check it in the morning after running it for a bit.
I also replaced the air filter at the same time.
I went to drain the water out of the FUEL FILTER but can't seem to see a shuttle **** or tap to open and drain it.
The drain pipe comes out of a brass ring that threads in and out but loosening this ring does not drain anything out.
How can I tell if it needs draining?
You should have a puddle of fuel on the floor. The drain valve should be on the right rear of the fuel filter bowl if your truck is a Powerstroke. If not, I'm not familiar with the early turbo diesels.
