Another 460
I searched this forum for head casting#'s and I think maybe I should have done some homework before building my engine.
My heads are C8VE's with flat top pistons. If I remember right the pistons have about a .030 dish in the tops. I built it about 5 years ago when I was 16 and had to have a hot rod, but I think thats right.
So my question...I want to know the CR of this engine. I estimated it about 9.5:1, but after seeing C8VE heads were about 10.5, I think I seriously underestimated. If anybody is running a setup like this, do you know what the CR is. It won't run on regular, premium it still pings with the timing retarded, and running on Avgas it just goes like a bat out of hell.
And while I'm here I might as well kill 2 birds with 1 stone. If somebody doesn't mind running a D Dyno for me I would love it.
So.. 460 bored .030
Holley 750
Edelb. Performer Intake
Ertel cam Lift-In. .512 Ex. .538 Dur @ .50 In. 214 Ex. 224
Mild head work
1 7/8 full length Hooker super comps. headers
At least 10.5 to 11.5 comp
Let me know what I missed.
Thank you so much fellas.

Cylinder Head Volume (cc) 75 - This assumes you milled the heads
Piston Head Volume (cc) 3 - Its what you get for eyebrows on flat tops
Gasket Thickness (in.) .041
Gasket Bore (in.) 4.47 - got this off my gasket
Cylinder Bore Diameter (in.) 4.39
Deck Clearance (in.) .030 - This would be .005 or so with 0 deck but because I don't know the exact piston you used I used .030
Stroke (in.) 3.85
STATIC COMPRESSION RATIO 10.953
I think you are higher than this though. Without the exact piston and deck height its hard to be accurate. If you where true zero deck(.005) with true flat tops you C/R would be 11.64. If you can supply the intake closing point I can figure out you dynamic compression.
Here is a handy site for figuring this stuff. http://kb-silvolite.com/calc.php?action=comp

Yes Im .005 deck height and Im sure the pistons are as close to flat tops as you can get. Geez, I wish I could remember what they looked like. The plugs are the big fat style so maybe I'll have a look in the hole. Its too bad I can't run pump gas without the timing backed WAY off. But I guess I got the hottest 4X4 around where I live If you can afford the 100LL!
BTW what else do I need to list for a Dyno from somebody if I have to?
Thanks
Matt
