Buffing at Home

My black Paint is full of little scratches (shallow, not to metal) swirls, etc

I would like to buff them out myself, is this doable? What do i need, where do i get it? I am guessing, a orbital polisher/buffer, pads, some sort of buffing compound? wash truck first? Whats it take? School me here!!!

Thanks!!!

Poorboysworld sells swirl remover - I've never used it but maybe someone else here has. If you try it and it works (or anything else), let me know - I'm not there yet with my black 2004 Explorer XLT Sport but someday.............
