I noticed that the engine heater is an option. I didnt see it on my data sheet. A friend of mine said that ALL diesels have engine heaters. If I do have one...I cant find the cord for it. If I dont have one...Is there an after market one or a ford one that can be installed after? What exactly does the heater consist of? I dont need one living in Las Vegas. But I do plan to go to the mountains this winter.

If im not mistaken your friend is right. All diesels should have one. It is probably still wrapped up. Check your owners manual for locations. Mine is right behind the drivers side fog lamp, but it could be elsewhere.

There was one or two years that the engine heater was an option at extra cost (96 and 97 or maybe it was 97 and 98, I'm not sure. The heater itself is located on the rear oil cooler header just above the oil filter. If it is not there, the aluminum oil cooler header will have a big pipe plug in its place. It could be that the heater is there but they forgot to install the cord.
I've got a 2002 F350. The plug had dropped down into the bumper, but it's in the same hole as the driver's side tow hook. If you can't find it, try from underneath.
