I've got a 96 with ABS, The R/F spindle got destroyed when we were driving across country and the bearing failed, well insted of stoping we drove the rest of the way to North Carolina from Maine. So anyway, Now Im in need of a used or OEM spindle with the new one costing just over $300.- So I got to thinking about it and regardless of ABS I want to replace my spindle and rotor with an earlier style for cost and ease of replacement!
Has any one done this or know where I can get specification to see what spindles will bolt on?
You might want to check your wheel hub as well (not the 4x4 hub). I have the bearings go on mine and it wore out the hub so the new "races" for the bearings would just float! LOL...
When you remove the spindle be careful not to damage the threads of the studs / spindle.
I sat down with the phone book this morning and went through it two guys had the spindle, one needed to varify what he had and call us back the other dident want to go out in the rain to pull it off and wouldent let us do it unsupervised Well we dident get a call so we went for a ride to trucks toy store in MoreHead City just for the fun of it and we wound up at Car Quest the guy there called a friend of his at Atlantic Auto Salvage just outside Morehead in East Newport he'll have it there tomarrow for $160.- (used) I still want to change over the hole assembly from the knuckle out maby find some flat toped steering knuckles too. At any rate were back In Business
