Wanted: Recommendations

Hi Guys,

I normally post on the PSD 7.3 forum since I own a chipped, lifted and modified 99 PSD 4x4 and love its performance but want to get some advice on the new 6.0s which I know almost nothing about.

My Sis and her husband are quite wealthy and recently they were pulling their new 28' Tritoon with their new Danalli and it almost overheated several times, and the 200 mile trip across the desert was a white knuckled affair (and this is in an area where there are no real mountain climbs and the temps were only in the 80s!). They know the power of my PSD, ( I also pull a 28" pontoon boat regularly in 115 degree temps with no problems) and how I really like it. They asked me what I would recommend in a new diesel truck, and of course, I recommended the new 6.0 PSD. They said they liked the new Chevy Duramax because of the more modern interior and Allison Transmission. I told them that was a fine truck, but if I had unlimited funds, I would get a new PSD 6.0 and put every performance enhancing and cooling mod I could find in it, maybe have someone who knows how install the Allison Transmission, or add a Gear Vendor to the stock transmission.....(money is not an issue). The configuration of the truck would be: Crewcab short bed 4x4. What would you guys recommend?... and how would it compare to the new Chevy? Pros and Con?

Thanks!

I would rather push a Ford than drive a Chevy.

Seriously, tell them a Regency Conversion Truck built from a Ford is much nicer than a Chevy. The new 5 speed auto in the 6.0 compares favorably with the Allison. The 6.0 makes more power than the Duramax and when you add a Predator, Wow!

Thanks Chocktaw Bob,

What is the difference in torque and horsepower between a stock Chevy and Ford? And can a Chevy be chipped?

Thanks Again,

The Chevy can be chipped but it doesn't do any good. Ask the guy driving the Duramax I smoked yesterday!

I have been itching to race a Duramax, but have not had the situation come up yet. I have smoked a hot sounding Silverado and a Special Edition Harley Davidson version F-150 that also sounded real good just as I was burning rubber passing him! This truck makes me feel like a teenager again!!

i believe torque for the durajunk in 520, 300 horsepower, and 560 torque and 325 horse for the 6.0 PSD. It all depends on what they want. to me a chevy isnt as strong of a truck as a ford. chevys customer service is terrible, oooohh dont get me started on the 6 months of hell with my 2001 2500 HD.

Yeah, I know what you mean Choctaw, My PSD is powered (UP!) by a Predator also.

Thanks 04superduty for the numbers.
