Just changed my oil yesterday, I used DELO 400. When I went to my RACOR CCV 4500 to drain it, there was a quart of oil in it that I did not have injected into my intercooler. I have a smile on my face, everytime I realize that I have done this wonderfull mod to my PSD. If you have not done this mod to your truck, you should give it some serious thought. It is not that tough and the cost is not that bad. Just wnted to share my glee.
He's talking about a crankcase separator. Walker also makes one, it's called the AirSep. From the factory, the crankcase blow-by gasses are routed into the combustion chamber just like an ordinary car. But since you have a turbo, the only place that there's a vacuum is at the turbo inlet. So all those blow-by gasses go through the turbo, intercooler and intercooler pipes, depositing an oily residue everywhere. Besides being messy, oil on the compressor wheel can reduce efficiency, and when the engine gets old and has lots of oil in the blow-by, you can get a runaway diesel. Also, burning the oil creates a bit more pollution.
The device he uses (and the Walker) separate the oil from the burnable gasses. The oil goes back to the oil pan, and the burnable gasses (now with almost no oily residue) get burned like they should.... the intake system stays clean, emissions go down, and supposedly power goes up.
Thats a very good explanation. I like it! Yes your H.P. increases 14 Horses, as told on a Mustang dyno in the before and after mode. It really is a "must do" mod. It such a straight up thing to do for your truck.
Racor is comeing out in a couple of months with a crank case vent system that is for the psd. It goes in place of the of the existing
ventilation system. model number CCV3500. This system doesn't require plumbing or routine draining.
Can anyone shed some light on installing the Racor CCV4500 unit?
I am considering getting one for my 2000 PSD and would like to know how difficult it would be to install myself.
Any info will be appreciated.

I would like some more information on this if you don't mind. Price? Diff. of install? Where to buy? Thanks
or you could just by pass the crank vent all together(which i have done) and not have to worry about any of it. also by replacing the stock vent on the intake with a piece 4"stainless you get more air flow and even better performance. i have picts of this mod in my gallery
Yep most heavy equipment has a vent hose hanging down that you can see the vapor coming out of any time it's running. When I have the time to do it I'd save the money and just run a vent line down and back and be done with it.
