Hi guys, After talking to a few members of this board.I'v been told to get new tie-rods.After a closer inspection of my steering I found out that I would need new a tie-rod end, drag link, center link, and pitman arm.I went to the local part house to order my parts, but thety could not find a pitman arm listed fot a 78,79 ford 150 4x4.Went I went home I checked a catalog that I had, and it was not listed in there either?Does anyone here know why this is?Can I still buy one?Would one listed under another year fit my truck?thx
I have a question for you concerning your pitman arm. Does it have a ball joint attached to it? Meaning where it attaches to the drag link, is there a ball joint on the pitman arm itself? I have had the same problem with my truck. When I bought it the guy said it was a 78 but when I went to get steering parts for it ( Tie Rod ends, Drag Link, etc. ) nothing would match up. So, we done some investigating and found out it's a 77. The steering parts that are interchangeable for it are 76-77. And it has a pitman arm that has a ball joint on the end of it where it connects to the drag link. Hope this helps you out.

I could be wrong I would have to look at it when it's light out.If I remember right when I took it apart it was attached to the center link the same way everything else was with the bolt and cotter pin. When I took it apart the rod fell out and that was it.it was the same as all of the other conecting rods?If that made any sense. When I look in the catalog every thing matches to what I have under 78,79.The 76,77 looks totally differnt.thx
