Hey everybody. I have a 400 race motor (rules limit what can be done to it). I have to use the stock 2 bbl Motorcraft. The rules state "no carb spacers or adapters". The problem I have is mine looks stock. Is this a stock part? Thanks for your help. I'm still learning about these motors.
It's possible, depending on how stock the engine is, that you could be looking at the EGR plate. That was stock and has a flange at the rear for mounting the EGR Valve. May even still have the EGR attached.
It does have a valve in the back that is plugged off. This 400 has the FMX bolt pattern...and it's technically not "stock" anymore. I pushed the rules as far as I could. The reason I ask is because I'm concerned with distributor clearance if they make me remove it. If it's stock, then I might have a valid argument to keep it. Thanks for the replies!
Thanks for your reply. I should have been a little more specific. The points system was upgraded and now has an electrical system with a larger distributor cap. I have an aftermarket air filter assembly. The front of it sits above the number 1 plug on the cap. If I remove the plate, there will be air filter clearance problems. It's an easy fix it but I'd rather not spend the money if I don't have to. I'm being selectively cheap.
