I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a good location on the front of a 1990 mustang to attach a tow bar. I have one of those adjustable tow bars that bolts to the car with two bolts. If I take off the front bumper, are there any suitable holes on the bumper support or crossmember that I can bolt it to? Also, are there other holes where I can bolt the safety chains to? The car is out of state at my parents so when I go pick it up I need to have all required tools necessary to hook it up (drill if there are no holes to attach tow bar).
Thanks
I can't answer your question but be careful if the car is an auto trans. You could burn the trans up if the driveshaft is not removed. Even with the trans in nuetral the trans will spin dry and burn up.
I can't think of a good way to one with a tow bar?
Yeah, I'm definitely going to disconnect the driveshaft. I did that on my 4-runner on the same trip even though it was a manual. Wasn't sure if it was bad or not for the transfercase so I did it just to be safe.
You can contact Blue Ox, or any other tow bar maker and see if they have a base plate available for your year Mustang. The base plate is the best way to hook up a tow bar to a unibody car, as they design the base plate specifically for that towing application. They are not exactly cheap, but not really expensive iether.
