When doing the front brakes on my 79 F150 I noticed that the caliper support key bolt looks stripped. No problem I have some spare parts and pull the bolts off them and they look stripped too
Do these bolts have a special cut thread?
I'd hate to put it back in them snap it off
The bolt wasn't in the hardware kit and has a special taper at the head where it fits in the key.
I believe that it is a 1/4 20 bolt hole in the caliper support and can be chased with a tap, they frequently get stuck and break off, then it becomes a bigger problem.
the bolts are available from the parts stores and if not, a standard bolt with 3 flat washers under it works well, use an antilock compound.
