I was trying to replace a blown factory sub in my brother-in-law's '01 Expedition. I got the panel off and removed all the screws, but I wasn't able to pull the sub out. It just rotates back and forth. Is there a trick to this? Special tool, etc.?
Yes, I got instructions that involve taking off that whole panel. I figured that I would be able to get to it a little better that way. If I can't get it out that way, I'll just cut it out. I plan on putting in a slightly bigger sub anyway. If you send me an email (see above), I'll forward the instructions to you. It's 3 emails, each with a single page PDF file.
Just read a reply on another thread I posted that says there is a bolt in back of the sub that has to be removed. I guess you have to take off that whole panel to get to it. I wouldn't try to take that panel off without instructions. You have to remove quite a bit of the surrounding plastic pieces and a seatbelt attachment (requires a T-47 socket attachment - not one most of us keep laying around).
