I was on another thread talking about replacement bulbs for head lites, i am thinking of getting a pair of the silver stars (part #9007) for about 35 bucks. is it a worth wild investment or not ? I mean that is almost double the price of regular ones. So if you or someone you know has had exp. with the silver stars or any other aftermarket headlite bulb replacement let me know. Reason: forgot info
I bought the silverstars for my mazda b2300 1997 and the difference is obvious. The color tone and the actual lighting is just way better than standard lights. For example, I drove an Explorer 1995 4.0 with standard lights up front for 2 days on my newspaper route and I could not stand the weak lighting offered by regular lights compared to my truck's $40.00 Silverstars. I would recommend if you really do a lot of night driving. Otherwise, just get some of those cheaper "halogen plus" or stay with the standards. $40 headlights are not worth it unless you drive at night a lot.
I've got silverstars in my headlights and foglights, and for what it's worth, I really like them. Much whiter looking lights. I put the bulbs only in my foglights for a few days, and left the stock bulbs in the headlights. Could tell a big difference between the two.
Although, to be honest, the more yellow the bulb is, the better it will probably be in fog/heavy rain. Overall, I still prefer the silverstars...
I have never used them myself, but I have read many posts on another board about these lights. (So this is 3rd hand info) Most people did say they liked the look of them, but they seemed to have about half the life of an OEM bulb. This maybe a different story on the Fords, but this was from the Honda/Acura guys. For what it is worth.
