ok, i changed oil and filter after the first 1,000 miles.. i used a fram filter (i'll switch to motocraft the next time since the fram is about an inch shorter than the motocraft).. i used rotella 15-40 oil although ford recommends 10-30.. (any comments on this??) i hear a lot about chevron delo oil.. (any comments on that??)
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 08-Jul-02 AT 08:32 AM (EST)]Stay away from Fram products. Motorcraft, Mobil, K&N and Wix (Napa) are all good oil filters. I've been using Delo 400 15W40 in trucks for 18 years with great results. Only use 10W30 in cold climates and if it's rated at least CH-4/SJ.
i'm an oil changing fool!! oil is cheap, engines aren't.. that's my motto.. i always change oil in a new vehicle after the first 1,000 miles.. i've always believed that most significant amount of wear is during that period.. after that i go to a 3,000 mile change interval.. i know that the manufacturer says that i can go longer, but that's what i do..
my baby is a 2002 f-250 super duty xlt 4wd regular cab with an 8 foot box.. i pull a 22 foot travel trailer that weighs 3500 lbs..
