OH yea and one more thing - how do i find out which wire from my car is + or - ????? the wire color is all ****ed up -- one side is green and yellow and the other green with white line and red with green line - i dont know what happend - can i just connect a vold meter ??
thats funny because i hook my speakers up that way and get excellent bass response. im gonna do a test once its up and running again and we will see what happens i will try both ways. im telling you it doesn't matter.
It doesn't matter? Then why would they bother labeling the terminals? Have you ever connected your car battery and thought to yourself "Which cable goes where? Ah, it doesn't matter!"

I'm all for trying to help out, but you gotta be willing to do some of the leg work. Links have been posted so you can go look up the color codes.
I not trying to be a jerk, and I know I don't have all the answers, but come on guys, THINK!
it does matter. the worong polarity will cause the speaker to have a shorter lift and not so good sound. The speaker is designed to pull the cone in to the magnet. by reversing polarity you ar pushing the cone away from the magnet and eventually will tear the cone or blow the speaker because of the unlimited range of travel with reversed polarity.
So the speaker should be pulling IN when the bass hits and not out? Damn I've had it backwards all these years. Thanks for the info, I've got some rewiring to do.
OK guys here it is once and for all. This is the speaker wirng harness for 98-99 or newer fords. If you connect according to this you should get excellent bass response. If not, one or two problems may exsist. Poor quality speakers or the outer rim of the speaker is not mounted flush against the door panel, there can't be any space between the speaker and the door panel.

This should solve all of your wiring problems. The factory connector probably wont fit your new speakers so just cut the factory connector off and splice with the new connector or wires that come with the new speakers. Let me know how it comes out.
