installing downpipe on 99 model

installing downpipe on 99 model
I need to know if you have to hoist up the truck in order to get a 4inch downpipe or can you just use a floor jack and get the truck high enough in the air. If there are any tricks of the trade in order to get this in there let me know.

I'm not sure if down pipes are mostly all the same - but I didn't have to jack up my truck at all to get my 4" downpipe on - did it with all 4 tires on the ground. It took some careful wiggling to get it up between the motor and the firewall - but nothing that putting the truck up with a floor jack would have helped. Are you in the middle of an install with a problem or just collecting info?

have a downpipe ordered and didnt know if it was going to be allot of throwin tools to get it in there while on the ground. Seems most 4" downpipes would be similar in routing and shape. I have the dynomax 4" cat back system and dynomax just started making the 4" turbo back system and I ordered just the downpipe and intermediate pipe. Dynomax doesnt have a part number yet cause they havent had really any calls on just those 2 parts. Plus you have to plead with them to get them just to sell those 2 pieces.

you'll need an extra set of hands, and thats about it. Don't try it by yourself like i did or you will be working on just the downpipe for an hour. I didn't have anyone to hold the bottom of the pipe while I attatched it to the turbo, not fun. Its a really easy install however with the additional mitts.
