Battery Hold Down Bolt...

Hi all...I can't remove the battery hold down bolt that's attached to the battery tray. I've yanked, pulled, turned, twisted...still no go. Am I missing or doing something wrong? Help please!

Because of this I can't get the old battery (which is no good) out. '95 4.0

Yes, after a few years of acid runoff from the battery, the threads become corroded and rusted together. Usually if you twist, the long bolt stem will also sever at a similar weak spot. Some PB-Blaster or other similar penetrant and a pair of Vice-grips are about the only options for getting the bolt out. You can a buy replacement bolt and hold down tab at most parts stores in the red carded 'HELP" section. You might have to run a a tap down the remaining threads in the base or replace with a new push-in connector.

Thanks for the quick responce. I yanked at it 'till it broke. I'll buy a hold down tab in the parts store. There's a hole on the back of the battery tray so i'll drill one on the front and use one of clamps with the two hooks and the plate running across the top of the battery held in place by two nuts.
