Egr....

um.. i posted the website a little while ago.. been away from the computer for a while bec we purchased a new toy.. a camper !!!!

so.. the check light is still on my dashboard ! bummer !!! someone said it could be egr.. i checked the hose still look good.. so i went out and bought the egr.. friend of mine replaced it for me.. disconnect the battery and it was off up to approx 50 miles.. and it came back on..

so while my friend was working on the egr area.. when you pop the hood up.. the egr located on the right hand side near the main intake ..

i just noticed it today that the hose near that egr area that connect near by brake booster area it all crack.. does it effect the engine ??

i dont know what it call the hose itself.. i just looked at the hose and it say fuel/gas

so.. im not gonna mess that hose but it does showing crack.. black rubber hose that connect the main intake to the right hand side back of the motor near by the brake booster..

anyone have a idea or what it call.. let me know..

The Emissions Light will set a lot if your gas cap is bad or you fill up with the motor running. I'd look there first. If you have a code reader, that'll show up as an evaporative (EVAP) failure. As for EGR, check the vacuum lines. I'd check the codes before playing around too much. As for cracked hoses, I say replace them if they're real bad.

Wait a minute! That hose said fuel/gas? Replace it- that might be an EVAP system leak, which would make your computer flunk you for the gas tank pressurization test.

Other common problems are O2 Sensors. A code reader would tell you that stuff.

yeah that hose..

i had the autozone code reading.. it came out saying engine is running to lean..
i also already replaced the fuel filter..egr. and ox sensor..

code came up like p171 170 something..

i noticed that when im driving and stop at the red light.. the rpm is jumping little up and down.. its annoying the hell out of me !!!!

!!!!

my wife bought the cold air intake from ebay for my birthday. it is no name brand cold air intake i installed it.. after 2 to 3 month the light came on and its been on ever since !!!!!

so any idea what shall i do next ?? does the maf need to be replaced.. the filter for cold air intake was already pre oil so i didnt over oil or anything..

i dont know what to do next.. im on tight budget and had new born girl.. so
any suggestion would be greatly appreactie..

some of my friend say best chance it is maf need to be upgrade or um re programming.. i dunno...

does it ever happend to you.. if so.. how do i reset the gas tank pressuized thing

These might indicate a vacuum leak, check the PCV hose elbows at both ends of the plastic tube.

Update On Egr...

I JUST WANTED TO SAY A BIG BIG BIG THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAD HELP AND REPLY THE THREAD !!!!!!!!!

I HAD REPLACED THE EGR.. THEN THE HOSE THAT CONNECT EVPT THING..
FINALLY FRIEND OF MINE SAY.. IT DOESNT HURT TO CHANGE MAF. MASS AIR FLOW..

SO I WENT TO THE FORD DEALER.. AND THEY WANTED 200 BUCKS FOR IT ! YEAHHHH RIGHTTT !!!

SO WENT TO LOCAL PART STORE IN LONG ISLAND.. PART WORLD.. SPOKE TO THEM. 70 BUCKS WITH 32 BUCKS CORE !!!

I REPLACED THE MAF.. DISCONNECT THE BATTERY FOR APPROX 30 MINUTES AND CONNECTED THE BATTERY.. FOR APPROX 150 MILES PLUS TOWING THE CAMPER.. NO CHECK LIGHT POP ON ! NO MORE ROUGH IDLE OR CODE P171 ..NO MORE ENGINE RUNNING TOO LEAN !!!

SO IT ALL DONE FOR NOW.. WHEW !!!!!

haha cool. my wife used to live in smithtown.. um street is elayine ct

her mom sold the house.

so we purchased in medford by station rd and 101..

im gonna trade in my blue expend.. its not powerful very low gar 3.55 and small motor for pulling my 24 ft camper..

going to take a peek at 2002 excurison v10..
