Question Heated mirrors.

I have a 04 lariat with heated mirrors. I can't tell if they work or not. When I turn them on I cant feel any noticable temperature difference. I am familiar with this style mirror. My work truck has them, and it gets warm to the touch. I am wondering if the F-150 mirrors are just a lower temp, or if they work at all? Anyone tinkered around with them?

With the winter we just had, I had plenty of opportunity to use them. They work great. Melted off the ice in no time. I never touched them to check for warmth, so I can't comment on that.

If you get a morning where you get some mist or fog on the mirrors, turn them on. At first you will see the lines where the heat elements are, then the whole mirror will clear. Work great.

This might sound bad coming from a Lariat owner who has the heated mirrors but... How do you turn them on anyway? I will never use them since I live in Houston Texas and a really cold winter translates into having to wear a jacket more than a few days in a row but I'm just curious how to turn them on. I'm too lazy to get out the manual and read.

As far as I can tell you push the defrost button on your climate control. The lariat has one for the rear window (w/o sliders), and one that controls the windshield and mirrors. Thats what think I remember reading.

I had some fog on mine this morning so I was able to use them.
There's a button under the climate control. Where the A/C is on the far left, my mirror button is on the far right.
They worked like a charm.

I have them and they work nicely. Also, I have turned them on and waited 5 minutes, then touched them and they were warm to the touch. I was sitting still, they didn't feel warm running down the road.
