Well I woke up this morning and guess what. I noticed my door was not closed all the way and my drivers side wind window was broke. They took my new 300 dollar deck, two amps, sub and box, crossover, and over 250 CD's. If I ever find who did this I will mess them up! I am so sick of everything with that truck. My rear diff. is going out and I have a fuel injector problem that no one seems to be able to help me out with. I think it is time to sell it.
Hope you got insurance to cover the theft. I got broken into a couple weeks ago. Body shop is charging 700.00 for wing window and frame replace and repair broken ignition. Haven't got stereo replaced yet.
$700?!!! Jeez. I expect you've never replaced a wing window? I put two in my Bronco. Bought them complete with frames for $60 the pair from a salvage yard. Installation is duck soup. Remove the door panel. Pull the weatherstrip (gently) out of the frame channel. On the door edge are two philips screws, remove them. On the inside of the door is one 11 mm bolt, remove it. Lift the whole thing up out of the door with a twisting motion as there is a bracket on the bottom. At this point it would be the ideal time to replace the door glass as it should take all of 10 seconds to slide a new one onto the regulator. Insert the new vent frame and reassemble.
You do NOT have to be a mechanic or even particularly handy to accomplish this. The steering column may be another story and best left to the pro's. But the side glass can be replaced in less tha 30 minutes by just about anybody who knows how to work a screwdriver.
If you have insurance covering the bill, then nevermind.
No I go through Farmers and if the vehicle is more than 15 years old they wont cover anything but liability. So even if the truck gets stolen then I am screwed. I had a wing window from another door and installed it myself. It was not too hard. Just got it re-tinted for $10 bucks. I went and bought a steering column lock and an alarm today so hopefully that will do something. I am finished with buying anymore stereo stuff. Also they started into my column but something must of spooked them because they did not take the truck.

State Farm is paying this one plus the stereo, most everything mechanical I do myself (I actually enjoy my garage where I am King ) Since I payout about 400.00 a month in Auto insurance (Bronco, Safari. E350,E250,F350,and 69 427vette I don't mind letting someone else write the check. That's what insurance is for IMO.
Besides doors ,windows, and bodywork drive me crazy
Man, theft is crap, sorry to hear that. Might want to get some info from greystreak if haven't already since you got that alarm. You install yourself? -BBB
Maybe that was the case. No it is okay, it still runs, like junk! I am going to try to do the alarm myself, it does not seem to hard. Hopefully with the red LED light in the window it will stop them from even wanting to break in.
Hate to say it - probably someone you know. How else would they target you, unless they heard you thumping, and follow you home to see where you live?? What a shame.
Next time, don't take original CDs anywhere. It's well worth it to copy CDs as soon as you get them and just play the copy. That way if it gets scratched up or stolen, it's not a big deal, all you have to do is go buy another spindle of CDs and re-copy them...
A little late for such advice I suppose, but maybe it'll help someone?
Still sucks about the rest of the stuff.
Hey, do you think it would be possible to wire your own security system by painting a few thin lines on the glass with conductive ink? Run a circuit through so if one of those lines breaks an alarm would go off... Would be exactly like the alarm circuit on those old x-in-1 project labs from Ratshack...
I thought it could of been someone I know but I just don't feel it. Broncos get stolen all the time out here so I think maybe they wanted the truck but saw the system too.
No, I had it locked. They busted the wing window. I should of done an alarm but I just never thought of it till now of course. The one I got is called a wasp and I liked it because it has a battery draw thingy on it so if someone opens the door the dome light will cause the alarm to go off. Also I found a steering column lock for a gmc but I welded it up to work for my truck. Even with this stuff I still have a hard time sleeping at night.
