I know these may already have been answered but i couldnt get the search to work and i need answers. I have a 460 that is in a 76 thunderbird although i dont think its stock. It was owned by nascar team owner tom mitchell in the early 80's and i believe it has been hopped up. Anyways, I was wondering how much hp and torque they make stock? Im thinking about putting this motor in my truck and need the info. Thanks

Let me see if I can help, The book I have, Ford Performance by Pat Ganahl says:
460 4v 365hp@4600rpm
342lb-ft@2800rpm it says these are 72 specs
I'll have to look around, I have some more books, see if I can find anything on a 76
It so happens I just put a 76 460 in my 55F250
Those numbers are for a pre '72 engine with D0VE spec heads. '76 was more like 195 HP. The method of measuring HP had changed, but '76 - '78 were the most restricted smog dogs of all. No worry, they still respond to proper engine building techniques. The potential is still there.
