Well this is my first diesel, is there any special maintance I need to do? The truck has 102,600 mi. on it and did come with the owners manual. Previous owner told me that I have 1,500 mi. 'til next oil change and he recommend changing the fuel filter at that time. It has a fairly new clutch installed, only 30,000 mi. on it.
What year is the truck? If you have green coolant you will need to add coolant additive. There are test strips you can buy that will tell you if you need to add or not. I buy most of my stuff like that at Diesel Injection Service ( www.dieselpage.com ).
I too just bought my first Diesel, and would like to know what to keep an eye for. It is a 2000 F250 Ext. cab 4X4 longbed 7.3 Powerstroke.
I hope many people post on this thread because I am sure it can be helpfull for many others too. Here is a picture of it

Nice looking truck, don't know the specifics of your year, like testing the coolant, but with anything, routine maintenance is key. Fuel filters should be changed on a regular basis as well as draining any water (I drain mine every other fuel fill), I'm having writers block right now, but you guys did come to the right place for advice.
Nice looking truck....Well I bought the truck from my best friends bother and I knew he took care of the truck. He didn't want to sell it, he has a little family now with another on the way, so he bought a 2000 F-350 Extended Cab. If it wasn't for that, he wouldn't have gotten rid of it.
Thanks! He said all he used was Rotella oil and changed the fuel filter every 10k miles.
