need some advice --> please read

My friend wants me to fix his 93 explorer (automatic) ... its got a blown engine. My experience has primarily been in the import scene. So I need some advice.

1. What other engines will fit?
2. Where is a good online resource to walk me thru the details?
3. Any other advice u think would be helpful

thanks much and best regards

I got my 4.0 engine from an Aerostar. I just had to change some stuff , like external engine parts to make it fit. The Haynes manual was a help, and the local junk yard supplied a good engine..........mike

Before you fix the engine, I'd make sure the trans is ok. The trans is the weak point on the early models.

FYI: the only motor offered in '91 to '95 Explorers was the 4.0 OHV.

Need to make sure you put in a new rear seal in the motor, and make sure the trains. is good.
