2007 Superduty???

From Monsta in Excursion Forum:

So this found by MONSTA for the redisign of the excursion in '07 - if they have one then. SOOOO... is there a chance that this might be a setup on the pickups as well? Check out all eight lugs!

I sure hope not... But who knows... what do y'all think the odds of this happening are?

I've speculated that IFS is coming in the '07 re-design ever since it was announced that the '05 would have coil springs up front. Sure hope I'm wrong.

That picture is of an IRS though. (Independent Rear Suspension.) The Expedition already has that so why not the Excursion? And if the Excursion will have it...

I'ze do loves me the coilage up front, though.

I'm not sure, but that looks like a independent rear to me. They put a independent rear in the Expedition, maybe Ford is going to do the Excursion as well.

I can see that rear end greanading under diesel power. Seriously thouogh, what is the point? It is not like you are going to win any road coures races in an excursion.

My point is.. if they use it in the Excursion, are they also planning to use it in the pickups? Everything is the same on excursions and superduties now.. why would they change that?

Actually from what I have heard, Ford will be dropping the Excursion and taking an Expedition and lengthening it. My dad being an engineer for ford saw a picture of it in one his recent meetings at Ford World Headquarters. That is probably why you are seeing the IRS, becuase the new excursion will be based off of the Expediton and could be called something like Expedition XL....I hope not copies off of Chevy to much. just my 2 cents

True, but the Expedition used to be based on the F150 and the Explorer used to be based on the Ranger and this is not the case now.

Didn't the "Tonka" concept have 4-wheel independent suspension with "power recovery" to assist in take-offs?

Yeah, the Tonka had those changes. My hopes are that they get another diesel option in the current configuration prior to the proposed '07 changes.

i thought it was released that ford wasnt going to stop making the excursion and has had a change in mind. (i hate to bring this up since we hear about 9/11 everyday here in ny, but..) its been selling well since and conversion companies have been using more of them. i have to get the article back i think it was in truck trend last month or the month prior.
