Question as stupid as it may sound - but I'll ask anyway will adding larger wheels on my 02 F350 say 18's bump up the hieght of the vehicle a full two inches...? Going from the stock 16 inches (which is ridiculously small on such a beast of a truck) or will it make a difference at all. Truck JUST barely fits in garage as it is stock... any more hieght and I'll be parking outside - but I'd like to get the GOOFBALL 16er's of my truck ASAP...
I'm NO expert, but here's what I think: Going to 18" wheels will raise your truck ONE inch, assuming the tire sidewall height stays equal to waht was on the 16' rims.
Reason: Your axle connects in the middle of the wheel. So you only get the height increase below the axle, which is 1/2 of whatever you increase the size.
The other thing I think is that you will have to lift your truck, or do fender surgery, to get much bigger tires/wheels under it. I bumped up the tire size on my 250, and I can BARELY get 285/75R16's underneath it.
Another aspect to consider...
When most people go to oversized wheels, they also go to low profile tires at the same time. The overall height might not be different enough to worry about. If you post the tire size you currently have, and the one you're going to get, I can tell you how much higher/lower your truck will sit.
