Could the bolts on your driveshaft have possible come loose? Might be one are to just check, especially if you have recently removed it to do the u-joints and carrier bearing. That or maybe the lug nuts on one of your wheels has come loose or is coming loose? I know these ideas are very obvious, but just an idea....?????

hmmmm well I would really consider checking the driveshaft bolts, especially since you just did work requiring you to remove and re-install it. If not that could it be a wheel bearing? Have you lifted your truck off the ground and grabbed each of your front wheels to see if there was a "woble" so to speak, like grab the top and bottom of the tire while off the ground and see if there is any play. Was your truck making this vibration before you did all of the work you mentioned above? The only reason I harp on the driveshaft bolts possible being loose is I had a similar vibration after doing some work in that area and that is what the culprit was.

I assumed you marked everything on the drive shaft before disassembly so you could reconnect everything in the same order. Also, the spline connection is not keyed in both halves, so unless you marked that connection, you could have put it back incorrectly. And the flange bolts should be torqued to about 85 ft.lbs. I know about this because I recently redid my drive shaft assembly with new u-joints and carrier bearing and lost the orientation on the spline connection. I had marked everything else, but that one mistake caused the drive shaft assembly to vibrate like crazy. I rotated the drive shaft 180º, and that helped immensely, but to get it perfect, I'm going to have to remove everything and have it rebalanced in a machine shop. It sure sounds like you might have a similar problem. Hope not.

I agree with Donald Rohret. I suspect the drive shaft was not indexed prior to removal, and it is now unbalanced.

but the problem is also right when i start out at like 10 mph, can a unbalanced shaft really cause that much of a problem?

There is a good technical sticky thread on this website about the driveshaft and how you should mark it before you remove it from the truck. Look at it before you do any work. When your driveshaft was orginally installed at the factory, there should have been a paint mark on the driveshaft and a corresponding color on the flange where it's bolted to the differential. Mark the two spline connections first with a straight edge before disassembly. After you disconnect the rear driveshaft, rotate the front driveshaft 180º from your mark, then reconnect the rear driveshaft with the paint marks lining up on the flange. You can rotate the front driveshaft by hand, when you put the transmission in neutral. Be sure your emergency brake is on, or have the wheels of your truck blocked, so it cannot roll forward or backward. In answer to your question about vibration at 10 mph., mine wasn't that bad, but was certainly noticeable at 20 mph. There was a noticeable improvement after I rotated the driveshaft, but I am still going to remove the entire driveshaft, take it to a machine shop and have the assembly rebablanced and remarked, when I get the chance. Good Luck on your job.

List.. You say your tires are all new and balanced? How old are they? Tires manufactured over six years give out in no time.... Check if they are running true. They might be well balanced but they might be running out. (Oval) And will make your truck wobble and vibrate like buggery. Happened to me... Cheers. Karslake
