Cruise Control

I just bought a 95 psd standard a few months ago. It has 173,000 miles on her. The cruise control dosen't work. Where would be the best place to look for the problem? I have check the fuses. It would not be a simple thing like that for me. Thanks.

I have a '96 had the same problem and posted it on this site. A fellow replied with how he fixed his and my problem turned out to be the same. It was the cruise control kill switch on the brake master cylinder. This switch, as I recall, is normally closed and opens when the brakes are applied. Stick an ohmmeter across the terminals of the switch. If it doesn't read 0, try shorting the connector and then try the cruise control. If that makes it work, a new switch is what you need. $26 I believe - can only get it at the dealer.

All this assumes your 95 has the switch. Good luck.

Test the BPA switch with a test light for power through switch, have seen ohmmeter show ok but switch break down with an electrical load applied.
