Locking lugs with missing Key
I recently bought a used 94 ford aerostar. It came with with Spectrum 2000 205-65-16 inch fan wheels. Well unfortunately the wheels have locking lugs which I just noticed today and the special key is missing. And of course the previous owner can't find it. Does anyone have any idea how to get them off. Do garages have the capabilities of taking them off?

The typical McGuard puzzle lock has a limited number of patterns, you can try to buy a set that's real close, and then carefully grind the key until it fits. Then carefully loosen the nuts. It only has to work 4 times. Then you can send the number on the package to McGuard to get a replacement key and use the new set of lock nuts.

if they are the 3/4 pin type you only need 1 pin, I have made one before by chopping out the all bar one pin, this is of course if the previous owner didn't go mad tightening them up.

I've had luck with wrapping the lug with electrical tape and using a GOOD sharp pair of vice-grip pliers. The tape gives just a little extra holding power. Using a dremel to etch slots for the pliers to grab will work too. Good Luck
