Squeaking from speedometer (I Think)

I just noticed driving home that there's this rhythmic squeaking coming from the direction of my steering column, quite possibly the speedometer. I used to just have some scratching sounds when it was cold, but now it's summer temp out here in Southern California and I think it's evolved to a rhythmic squeaking sound. What can I do to get rid of this problem?

unhook speedo cable. if noise goes away when ya drive that it. the bearing inside speedo can get dry. if your carefull you can take it appart and lub it and also the speedo cable.
