Ac Stops Cooling, Blower Groans
Under heavy towing, at least thats when I've noticed it, the AC will stop cooling and the blower on higher speeds sounds terrible. If turn truck off, or AC off for a while it will start working again. Anybody have any clues???

You are probably low on freon in you a/c lines. I would have it checked out, sounds that way to me anyhow. The system will freeze up if you are to low, and when you shut it down it thaws out again.

The latter post should be the answer. The same happens in our vans and former olds traveling up steep grades in mountain foothills and western OK hills. Protect itself against over heating. Maybe it is outdated now, but the general rule of thumb was to never run air conditioner on long steep grades and medium to heavy towing. Blower sounds awful doesn't it! As long as it doesn't do it at other times I wouldn't worry about it. Might as well check the freon level anyway since we are almost in summer weather.

Thanks for the input. Had compressor put on a couple of years ago and they didn't have a drier in stock for it. I know your supposed to put a drier on when open an AC system but was unable to at the time. Was wondering if there is possibly moisture in system causing it to "freeze up" also?? and if replacing the drier now would help.
