Took my 2002 F-250 crewcab diesel to the dealer to have them fix a problem with the #17 (exterior lamp) fuse. Also mentioned that the power steering pump was starting to make a noise. My truck has 7,500 miles on it.
They found the short circuit and it was fixed.
The power steering pump failed their diagnostic test and was replaced. I'm glad that I mentioned the steering noise - the brakes and steering both work from the power steering pump!
As a result, my brakes are now much better.
Do not hesitate to get your steering pump looked at if you suspect problems may be brewing --> Your brakes are depending on it!
