[updated:LAST EDITED ON 21-Aug-02 AT 05:32 PM (EST)]i have a '96 f350, had it all it's life.
at about 115000 miles it developed a problem.
at idle or full speed it just turns off.
everything electrical is still on. i.e. radio, fan, gauges.
when i'm running down the road it will usually re-start on
it's own. when i'm idling, i have to re-start it.
anybody seen this?
it isn't associated with either fuel tank, empty or full.
i've replaced the fuel/water filter
i've wiggled everthing i can find and can't make it quit.
just happens once or twice a day.
extremely frustrating.
ok, it looks like it is the cps.
anybody know where the engine serial number is located?
thanks for the help
thanks, i found the cps, and by the info on this board it appears to be a common problem.
you wouldn't happen to know where the engine serial number is located would you?
There should be a label toward the front of the drivers side valve cover with the serial number on it. If the label is gone it is on the pad that mounts the rear portion of the oil cooler to the block (stamped into the block above the oil filter).
