i currently own a 1996 f-150 with the 5.8L V8 and i like the torque it has.
but it's time to trade up. im looking at 2000-2001 f-150 which engine do you guys reccomend and why. i don't do a lot of pulling mostly just daily driving
what kind of mileage can i expect with each engine?
I have a 99F150 super cab 2 wheel drive with the V6 5speed and 3.08 rear ax. Great power and 17mpg in city and 21mpg highway no load 70mph. I have driven the same truck with auto and is total dog compared to the 5speed. So my opinion if you want auto get 5.4V8 . My dad has a 2001 Super crew off road with the 5.4 auto and gets 14 mpg city and 17.5mpg highway.

I'd say the same as above, I get close to the same with my 01 5.4 super crew. I prefer a little more power than what the v6 gives. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a 5.4 over anything else. I may not get the mileage a v6 gets, but when I pull out and need to get moving, my 5.4 does the job.
