HI guys, I will be ordering a new 2004 SD F-250with in the next few weeks. I just need some opinions.
My truck will be an xlt. I am ordering the FX4 off-road package. I'm just undecided on the sport package. FOr those of you who dont know, a sport package is when the bumpers and grill are painted body color.
So what do you guys think, should I get the sport package or not?? By the way, my truck will be Dark Shadow Grey Clearcoat mettalic in color. Thanks
Personally - I don't really dig the sport with the monochromatic color scheme - but it all depends on what YOU want. How much do you have to pay for the option??
I just saw the color you said - I can't say I've seen anything but black and white with the painted bumpers and grilles, and the one's I saw (there's not many running around here) never had anything else (like the chrome running boards you mentioned). Might look cool with a billet grill insert and the chrome door handle covers you can get...
I have the 2002 F-350 SC 4x4 PSD XLT Sport package and everyone compliments on the black leather seats and the carbon fiber insert panels. Mine also came with the chrome nerf bars. The package is well worth the extra $899.00. any questions, feel free to email me..goodluck on the new truck
Take a peek in my gallery. I have a similar truck to FF-Paramedic. I have the leather captains chairs....the carbon fiber interior trim......the chrome wheels are weak in my opinion...so I bought lariet wheels and it looks so much better with the grey. I love my truck with the dark shadow grey.....one thing that I have done is ...add aluminum bed rail caps and full front and rear box protectors to break up the grey a bit. I also added stainless door handles. It is a big truck and that much grey was a bit much......I see they got rid of sonic blue and added true blue in the sport package.....A smart move....The darker colors look good the white and red......YUCK!!!!!!!!! The sonic blue was a bit much also......the true blue is a nice navy to royal blue.....
I like the looks of the sport package but I did not purchase the package on my 250 because I saw a red one that was the demo at the dealer I purchased mine from. They detailed it and put it back on the new car lot. Upon close inspection there quite a few chips on the bumper. It was a question I posed at one time to a salesman - how the painted bumper held up. Well the eyes don't lie. I personally would not like that on my truck so it was chrome for me.
I also have the Sport package with the Shadow Grey excepty I have a 4X2. The first thing I did was to get rid of all the chrome. I powder coated everything black. Check out my truck here.
Wow guys, thanks for all the great replys. I am leaning towards getting the sport package, I really like the way it looks. Though I am kind of worried about the chipping of the bumpers. I definately will be getting the black leather seats. One question though, when you get the black leather seats is your entire interior black, including the carpet??
P.S. Boxcar and MaxRS both your trucks are AWESOME!!! You guys should be proud!!
yes black carpets......on the bumper chipping...it does a bit. I do alot of highway driving, so alot of 70MPH impacts of all kinds of crap hitting the truck. I just keep on top of it....touching up with paint every couple of months.
I'm getting mine today. I opted for the two tone cloth seats--the only way to go way down here in south Texas-- the black leather does look good, I just don't want to have to peel my skin off in the 100 degree heat. My truck is the black xlt sport. Man, nothing is sweeter than a big ol' black truck!
The biggest drawback to the Sport package is the painted bumpers. Here in Road Salt Land, the front bumper rusts in no time if it gets chipped (which it will) and you don't keep after the touch-up. Rear bumper tends to rust, too, due to stuff kicked-up by the rear tires. I love the look of the Sport, but the chrome bumpers are a lot more serviceable and practical.
