i got a 74 f100 4wd with a 360 auto the first question i got is the power steering line run into the tie rods i have never seen this before it also has a steering stabilizer shock but i dont know why the ps lines go into the tie rods was this factory . and second i think that it may be a camper specal or a heavy duty becouse the frame about the middle of the cab to about the radiator the frame isnt a normal c type of frame it is a box like a car frame . its not a real pretty truck i got it 3 days ago havent looked at it to much the body is about to fall off it looks like a bad timber beeter . and is it possible to put an extended cab/ short bed step side where a reg. cab long bed was
That has the standard 73-77 style power steering. The steering lines go into a power cylinder that is part of the steering linkages.
I'm not positive, but I think all the 73-79 4x4s had the front half of the frame boxed in for strength.
Swapping a supercab onto your frame is possible, but lots of work. Do a search for 'supercab swap'. You will find lots of discussions about this in the past.
thanks for the reply i did figure out that the power steering lines did work like that but had to look at it for a wile , i am more familier with 80's fords so i just thought that the frame looked weird boxed but my dad said he thought it was normal in the 70's, i changed my mind on chainging the cabs i found a utility bed i am going to put on it , (its free and long bed and in the summer i could use it for going to demos and the races)it won't look very cool but who cares
