ditch sway bars?

i put a 6 inch lift on my 88 f150, my sway bars dont fit anymore, can i toss them or do i have to get an adaption kit, i've been driving without them for 4 months and so far no problems, but i dont know if its causing unusual stress or what.
thanks for the hand!

Lots of people take the sway bars off to increase the articulation of their truck. If this truck is just used for offroad I would leave them off but if your doing any type of street driving I would put them on because if you have to swerve fast to avoid a collision it can get pretty squirley! I know that Skyjacker makes a removable front swaybar kit but I think its only for Jeeps maybe you can fab up something that can be easily taken on and off. The Skyjacker kit utilized pull pins.

You need longer links. On axles that are leaf sprung, you can probably get rid of them.

i took both of mine off and haven't thought twice about it. the springs are stiff enough to keep it from rolling side to side

the trailmaster kits just use a drop bracket to lower the frame mounts down by the amount of the lift so they will still bolt on, so if you really feel the need for them you could fab some up using some 6in channel iron,(this is for the front only the rear uses longer link bars) but I never put mine back on either

Yup, lose 'em. I'd advise though that once you do you take it out and get use to how it feels on hard corretions...it can be a real different feel depending on your suspension and better to get used to it beforehand than in a critical swerve than ends up in over correction...

Both my F-150s and F-250 never had sway bars, and I've thrown my 2wd f-150 through some hard corner, and no problems, except for the mailbox incident..

Somehow I have a feeling that this incident had NOTHING to do with sway bars.
