Question changing oil

I was told that after you change the oil in the 2004 F-150 ,4x4 ,5.4, that you have to reset something. Does anyone know anything about this? I cant find out from any dealer around here. Thanks for the help.

I believe that is only in the Lariat. It tells you in the message center when it is time to change the oil. The message center in the Lariat has a lot more features that all the others. It should say something about it in the owners manual.

I went through the workshop manual and found nothing on resetting the computer after changing the oil. However, I still have to go through the PCM manual. Maybe there's something in there. The PCM manual doesn't have an index, so it's going to take a little longer to go through it. Plus, it's not just for the '04 F150. The PCM manual is just as thick as the workshop manual!

There is nothing that needs to be reset.

There was going to be an oil reminder on the lariat but it did not make it into production. So nothing to reset.

Mike, I could have sworn I read about the time for oil change in the message center. Just went back into the owners manual and it isn't there. Now just where did I dream this?

I think the info. you saw was from some very early reports about the available features. Some of them just did not make it.
